Based in Melbourne Australia on the banks of the Yarra, Sarai Meyerink creates art, inspired by wildlife and nature.
Coming from an artistic family, she found her love for drawing about 12 years ago. Learning new techniques and using different mediums , she soon discovered her favourite was stippling.
Stippling is an old technique, where you create shading though thousands of tiny dots, using a fine ink pen. This then creates a detailed piece of art. A technique great for drawing animals.
This soon lead to selling her work through shops, doing commissions and entering art competitions.
Loving African animals, Sarai was drawn to write and illustrate a children’s book called “A cheetahs cubs “. Each illustration in this book is uniquely done, using the stippled technique, which helps create, life – like natural art.
Now, only using coloured pencils, Sarai is able to create vibrant works, that capture the details in the wildlife she is drawing.
Using high quality oil and wax based pencils, along with watercolour and lightfast papers, ensure a long lasting product.
